Welcome to BICON

BICON houses the Australian Government's Biosecurity import conditions database for more than 20,000 plants, animals, minerals and biological products. It will help you to determine what import conditions exist and if an import permit is required. Please refer to the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry Importing to Australia page for more information about BICON.

The BICON website will be updated with a new look and feel in April. The changes are aimed at improving your experience when using BICON.

The changes include:

  • a more modern look and feel to provide a seamless user experience between biosecurity digital services
  • a mobile website to improve usability on mobile phones and tablets
  • better accessibility for vision impaired users and those using screen-readers
  • increased workflow clarity when applying for import permits.

The functionality of the BICON website won’t be changing and you will still be able to review import conditions and apply for import permits as you normally would. There will also be no changes to how you access your BICON account.

Further information, including a preview of the new BICON website will be available on the department’s website and BICON homepage in March.
