Changes to the Dog semen case

Effective from 9 April 2025

The BICON Case for dog semen has been redesigned to assist users understand the import conditions which must be met to import dog semen into Australia. The model veterinary health certificate will also be updated on the department’s website, and a link to this certificate will be available through the BICON Case.

An import industry advice notice was published on the 21st of March 2025 to support this change: 82-2025: Upcoming changes to the BICON case for the import of dog semen to Australia.

There will be no changes to the import conditions.

Importers are advised that the department will continue to accept the current model veterinary health certificate for clearance of semen imports prepared and certified prior to the 31st of March 2025.

Who does this notice affect:
This notice affects all importers who intend to import dog semen into Australia, and officers who assess documentation to support the importation of these animals.
