Removal of Australian Border Force referral information
Effective from 18 December 2024The department has removed the following information from various BICON cases:
'Seeds and plant parts of this genus/species are prohibited by Schedule 4 of the Customs (Prohibited Imports) Regulations 1956. Imports of these seeds and plant parts must be referred to the Australian Border Force prior to release from biosecurity control.'
Compliance with other regulatory provisions:
The removal of this condition does not change importer's responsibility to comply with other regulatory requirements.
It is the importer's responsibility to identify and ensure they have complied with all requirements of any other regulatory agency or advisory body prior to and after importation.

- Fruit and vegetable juices, chilled pulps, purees and pastes, plant oils and plant-based beverages
- Kava for human consumption
- Bark for human consumption
- Frozen fruit, vegetables and herbs for human consumption
- Papaver somniferum seed for sowing
- Papaver somniferum seed for human consumption
- Powdered plant products for human consumption
- Poppy straw (Papaver somniferum) for processing
- Cannabis spp. seed for sowing
- Dried herbs for human consumption
- Hemp seed and hemp products (Cannabis spp.)
- Dried capsicum or chilli (whole, crushed or ground) for human consumption
