Changes to the import conditions in the Standard permit for Microalgae

Effective from 3 December 2024

The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry has made changes to the import conditions in the standard permit for Microalgae fully finished and retail packaged in no greater than 1kg units.

These changes will only apply to permits issued after 3 December 2024.

The permit will now allow for goods that contain ingredients from the list of Highly refined organic chemicals and substances.

This change will make the permit more flexible and allow for microalgae goods containing low risk ingredients such as sugars, glucose, gum products etc.

Importers that hold permits issued previously may apply for a variation or apply for a new standard permit, if they wish to take advantage of the change.
