Upcoming changes to the Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD) Free and Bovine Fluids and Tissues Country lists

Effective from 15 November 2024

The department has been notified that Japan has had an outbreak of Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD). As such, the department no longer recognises Japan as free from LSD.

The department will contact individual import permit holders affected by this change and provide further information on how it will impact the import conditions for specific goods.

The department is working with authorities in Japan to identify opportunities for ongoing trade.

Who does this alert affect:
Importers of dairy, unretorted meat and bovine fluids and tissues which have been sourced from, manufactured in or exported from countries free from LSD, import brokers and Pathway Operations Cargo - Assessment.
