Case: Confectionery for human consumption Effective 05 Dec 2024
Import Conditions
Import conditions define the biosecurity requirements which must be met for your import. Where import conditions have been developed, they will be listed below.
-
These goods are often comprised of a range of ingredients and the import conditions for each ingredient must be met. The import conditions can be found by searching BICON for each individual ingredient, selecting the appropriate BICON case and answering the scenario questions.
-
There are no alternative conditions (i.e. alternative to an import permit) in the Biosecurity (Conditionally Non-Prohibited Goods) Determination 2021 specific to confectionery. Consequently all confectionery must meet alternative conditions for each ingredient or apply for a permit. Importers must apply for a permit in the applicable BICON commodity case.
The following BICON cases may be applicable:
- Highly refined organic chemicals and substances
- Insect and arachnid products for human consumption
- Dairy
- Microalgae (note this includes colouring derived from microalgae)
- Processed nuts for human consumption
- Gelatine
- Synthetic material
- Egg and egg products for human consumption
- Animal based flavours or floss
- Collagen and casings for human consumption
