New webpage for ISTA & NAL Department approved seed purity testing laboratories

Effective from 28 October 2022

This notice is to advise stakeholders that the department has published a new webpage to contain the list of International Seed Testing Association (ISTA) accredited laboratories and Naktuinbouw Authorized Laboratories (NAL) that are approved by the department to perform seed purity testing on seeds imported for planting and consumption.

The new webpage can be found here:department approved seed purity testing laboratories.

This webpage now contains the complete list of department approved laboratories in Australia and overseas, categorised by country. No other changes have been made to the list of approved laboratories.

All existing links to the Australian and overseas lists of department approved seed purity testing laboratories within the import conditions of seed cases have been replaced with a hyperlink to the new webpage.

Import Permits:
Existing import permits will not be varied. All import permits issued from this day onwards will contain a hyperlink to the new webpage, instead of the table in the appendix of the permit.

Who does this notice affect:
Importers of seed for sowing, importers of seed for human consumption, their brokers, Client Contact Group and Pathway Operations Cargo - Assessment and Inspections.
