Import conditions define the biosecurity requirements which must be met for your import. Where import conditions have been developed, they will be listed below.
Please note that country and commodity specific import conditions must be developed before any fresh fruit may be imported into Australian territory.

The following scientific names of fresh fruit require further assessment They are currently not permitted entry because insufficient information is available on their risk status.

There are a range of risk assessments undertaken by the department. These include regulated Biosecurity Import Risk Analyses (BIRAs) and non-regulated assessments. Further information on BIRAs, and their initiation, can be found on the department's website.

To initiate a risk assessment for fresh fruit, an import proposal must be received. An import proposal must be provided to the department by government authorities of the exporting country in the form of a market access request, or when people or organisations want to import goods (plants, animals and other goods).
