Phalaenopsis spp. as nursery stock for export to Australia from Taiwan
Effective 10 August 2018 to 7 September 2018Phalaenopsis spp. as nursery stock for export to Australia from Taiwan must be:
grown in BAPHIQ registered greenhouses for a minimum of 4 months prior to being exported to Australia
sourced from pest-free mother stock that has been virus-tested
regularly inspected by BAPHIQ during the growth in quarantine for pathogens of quarantine concern to Australian territory
grown in a soil-less media at all times prior to export
grown in an approved growing medium such as perlite, vermiculite, inorganic fibres or sphagnum moss which has been pasteurized using hot water (80 degrees Celsius for 30 minutes) Note: plants may also be exported bare rooted
produced in accordance with the “Work Plan for the Importation of Phalaenopsis species Nursery Stock from Taiwan to Australia 2014”.
All plants and their growing media must be inspected immediately prior to export by a BAPHIQ biosecurity officer to ensure freedom from live insects, disease symptoms and any other material of quarantine concern (e.g. trash, soil, weed seeds, unapproved media, and packing material).
