Approved system details for dormant Zantedeschia tubers
Effective 5 October 2016 to 7 October 2016A systems approach is certified by the exporting country's NPPO and includes a number of practices undertaken prior to planting, during crop production and post-harvest, which contribute to mitigating pest and disease risk.
The recommended components of a systems approach for producing dormant Zantedeschia tubers include:
dormant tubers sourced from high health mother stock (pathogen-tested mother stock or mother stock established from seeds)
in-field monitoring and management for quarantine pests and pathogens, as well as thrips vectors
mandatory offshore or onshore treatment (methyl bromide fumigation or insecticidal dip)
mandatory pre-export inspection
mandatory on-arrival inspection.
Dormant tubers meeting all the components of the systems approach are recommended to be released and will not require growth in a PEQ facility.
For further information see the department's policy on importation of Zantedeschia dormant tubers.
