Application for release of progeny of imported laboratory zebra fish (Danio rerio) from quarantine

Effective 22 October 2016 to 11 March 2017

A completed copy of this document must be faxed or emailed to the Department of Agriculture and Water Resources regional office in the state of import to obtain approval for release from biosecurity control of progeny of imported zebra fish. Approval will not be given for release of imported fish.

I, ……………………….. (name), being the person responsible for the approved arrangement site above, declare that:

  • the zebra fish were imported more than 7 days ago

  • there have been no unusual or unexpected deaths among the imported fish

  • only progeny of the imported fish will be removed from the facility

  • during the six months prior to release, there has been no significant disease in the facility

  • embryos derived from the imported parent zebra fish to produce the progeny have undergone embryo bleaching

  • the progeny proposed for release have not come into contact with imported parent stock since embryo bleaching

  • the progeny proposed for release have remained isolated since their birth by biologically secure means from fish not of equivalent health status

  • since embryo bleaching, the fish have remained clinically healthy and free from evidence of infectious disease

  • after release, all zebra fish will be held in a suitable animal facility within the importing institution which is in compliance with the institution's Animal Ethics Committee and the requirements of the Office of the Gene Technology Regulator (OGTR).
