Approved treatments for items in direct or indirect contact with imported goods

Items which must be treated

Approved treatments for items

When the approved treatment must be applied

  • Transport container and all contents (excluding the live animals or their reproductive material)
  • Incinerated, or
  • Autoclaved, or
  • Irradiated at 50 kGray, or
  • Treated with chlorine at a minimum final concentration of 200ppm for a minimum of 1 hour, or
  • Treated with Virkon
  • On arrival at the AA
  • Imported water
  • All other water
  • Filtered to remove all viable animals and reproductive material, and
  • Treated with chlorine at a minimum final concentration of 200ppm for a minimum of 1 hour, or
  • Treated at a minimum of 90°C for a minimum of 30 minutes
  • Prior to release from the AA
  • All parts of the environment
  • Incinerated, or
  • Autoclaved, or
  • Irradiated at 50 kGray, or
  • Treated with chlorine at a minimum final concentration of 200ppm for a minimum of 1 hour, or
  • Treated with Virkon
  • Prior to release from the AA
  • All equipment
  • Incinerated, or
  • Autoclaved, or
  • Irradiated at 50 kGray, or
  • Treated with chlorine at a minimum final concentration of 200ppm for a minimum of 1 hour, or
  • Treated with Virkon
