Application: Release of disinfected embryos and progeny derived from disinfected embryos

Completed applications must be sent to the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry regional office in the state or territory of the approved arrangement (AA).

I, ……………………….. (name), being the person responsible for the approved arrangement site above, declare that:

  • The only goods which will be released from the AA are disinfected embryos and progeny derived from disinfected embryos. No directly imported live fish will be released.
  • During the six months prior to release there have been:

    • no significant diseases of aquatic animals in the AA, and
    • no unusual or unexpected deaths or large morality events associated with any imported fish or any progeny in the AA.
  • All embryos for release, and all embryos from which fish for release were derived, have been treated with one of the following methods:

  • Since embryo disinfection the embryos and progeny for release have:

    • remained clinically healthy and free from evidence of infectious disease, and
    • have not come into direct or indirect contact with the parent stock or any other fish of a lesser health status.
  • At least 7 days will elapse between the import of the consignment and the release of the disinfected embryos or progeny derived from disinfected embryos.
  • After release, all live fish and reproductive material will be held in a bona fide scientific institution which in compliance with the institution's Animal Ethics Committee, in accordance with the Code of Practice for the Care and Use of Animals for Scientific Purposes and is certified as a PC2 Aquatic Facility with the Office of the Gene Technology Regulator (OGTR).
