Flora of China Ziziphus spp. identification key

Effective 30 March 2023 to 1 August 2023

Prior to release from biosecurity control, all plants must be inspected by a Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry botanist using the Flora of China Ziziphus spp. identification key to certify the material as being Ziziphus jujuba Mill.

  1. The plants will need to be grown to the appropriate stage of maturity, such that they produce the required structures to allow for a morphological identification to be conducted.
  2. The identification will be performed using the Flora of China Ziziphus spp. key. Where possible, the botanist undertaking the identification should access the key through this link - Ziziphus in Flora of China. Where the website is not available or cannot be accessed, the Flora of China Ziziphus spp. key PDF can be used.
  3. Only once the identity of the plants has been confirmed as Ziziphus jujuba Mill. they may be eligible for release from biosecurity control so long as no other biosecurity issues of concern have been identified and the minimum quarantine period has been served.
