Requirement: Phalaenopsis spp. as nursery stock for export to Australia from Taiwan
Effective 13 September 2022Phalaenopsis spp. as nursery stock for export to Australia from Taiwan must be:
- Grown in Bureau of Animal and Plant Health Inspection and Quarantine (BAPHIQ) registered greenhouses as per the list of approved sources for importing Phalaenopsis spp. from Taiwan for a minimum of four months prior to being exported to Australia.
- Sourced from pest-free mother stock that has been virus-tested.
- Regularly inspected by BAPHIQ during the growth in quarantine for pathogens of quarantine concern to Australian territory.
- Grown in a soil-less media at all times prior to export.
- Grown in an approved growing medium such as perlite, vermiculite, inorganic fibres or sphagnum moss which has been pasteurized using hot water (80°C for 30 minutes) Note: plants may also be exported bare rooted.
- Produced in accordance with the “Work Plan for the Importation of Phalaenopsis species Nursery Stock from Taiwan to Australia 2022”.
- All plants and their growing media must be inspected immediately prior to export by a BAPHIQ biosecurity officer to ensure freedom from live insects, disease symptoms and any other material of quarantine concern (e.g. trash, soil, weed seeds, unapproved media, and packing material).
