Information: On-arrival requirements for Punica cuttings from a high risk Xylella country

Effective 15 October 2021

The following table outlines the on-arrival inspection, treatment and post-entry quarantine requirements that are available for Punica spp. imported into Australian territory from a high risk Xylella fastidiosa country (not imported under an NPPO approved arrangement for X. fastidiosa).

1 The mandatory tests outlined above may be subject to change, depending on the availability of alternative testing methods and emerging quarantine risks. Additional testing of symptomatic plants may include culturing, microscopy and molecular testing. The importer is responsible for all costs relating to the screening/testing for any emerging/additional pathogens of biosecurity concern.

2 Mandatory active testing is in place to screen plants for Ceratocystis spp. Testing is conducted using fungal culturing.

3 Mandatory active testing is in place to screen plants for Xylella fastidiosa. Testing is conducted using two polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests.
