Treatment: Methyl bromide treatment schedules for cherries from the United States of America

Effective 2 June 2021 to 5 June 2021

Fumigation must be with methyl bromide for 2 hours according to one of the schedules below and supervised by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA):

Fruit must not be fumigated if either the air or fruit pulp temperatures fall below 8.3°C. Where the air and pulp temperatures are different, the lower temperature must be used for calculating the concentration of methyl bromide required.

  1. 48g/m³ at pulp temperatures of 12.2°C but less than 13.9°C for 2.5 hours at 40% chamber capacity in wooden bins
  2. 48g/m³ at pulp temperatures of 12.2°C but less than 13.9°C for 2.5 hours at 50% chamber capacity in plastic bins
  3. 48g/m³ at pulp temperatures of 13.9°C or greater for 2 hours at 30.1% chamber capacity in wooden bins
  4. 48g/m³ at pulp temperatures of 13.9°C or greater for 2 hours at 30.1% chamber capacity in plastic bins
  5. 56g/m³ at pulp temperatures of 10.6°C but less than 12.2°C for 2.5 hours at 40% chamber capacity in wooden bins
  6. 56g/m³ at pulp temperatures of 12.2°C or greater for two hours at 30.1% chamber capacity in wooden bins
  7. 56g/m³ at pulp temperatures of 12.2°C but less than 13.9°C for 2 hours at 40% chamber capacity in plastic bins
  8. 64g/m³ at pulp temperatures of 10.6°C but less than 12.2°C for 2 hours at 40% chamber capacity in plastic bins
  9. 64g/m³ at pulp temperatures of 8.3°C but less than 10.6°C for 2.5 hours at 50% chamber capacity in plastic bins
  10. 64g/m³ at pulp temperatures of 10.6°C or greater for 2 hours at 30.1% chamber capacity in wooden bins
  11. 72g/m³ at pulp temperatures of 8.3°C but less than 10.6°C for 2 hours at 40% chamber capacity in plastic bins
  12. 72g/m³ at pulp temperatures of 8.3°C or greater for 2 hours at 30.1% chamber capacity in wooden bins.
