Risk background: Risks associated with stockfeed of animal origin from New Zealand

Effective 29 April 2021

New Zealand has a similar animal health status to Australia, so the risk of introducing an exotic disease from stockfeeds of animal origin from New Zealand is very low. Further to this, State and Territory legislation in Australia prevents the feeding of ruminant materials to ruminants giving extra assurance that the risk of exotic diseases entering the country are minimised.
