Treatment: Equivalent heat treatments

Effective 1 October 2019 to 13 October 2021

The following heat treatments are considered equivalent to a core temperature of 70°C for 8.2 minutes. The heat treatment must be applied as a minimum core temperature and minimum time held at that core temperature in a commercial heating process:

  1. 71°C for not less than 6.6 minutes

  2. 72°C for not less than 5.2 minutes

  3. 73°C for not less than 4.2 minutes

  4. 74°C for not less than 3.3 minutes

  5. 75°C for not less than 2.6 minutes

  6. 76°C for not less than 2.1 minutes

  7. 77°C for not less than 1.7 minutes

  8. 78°C for not less than 1.3 minutes

  9. 79°C for not less than 1.1 minutes

  10. 80°C for not less than 1 minute

Any treatment at a time of less than 0.3 minutes (18 seconds) will not be accepted.

Heat treatments under 70°C will not be accepted as a sole biosecurity risk management measure for composite egg products. All other heat treatments will be referred to our policy division for further assessment.
