Certificate: Health certification requirements for domestic cats from New Zealand

Effective 24 August 2019 to 7 December 2021

NOTE: Veterinary certificates are negotiated directly between relevant government authorities. In cases where a veterinary certificate has not been negotiated, this annex can be used as the basis for developing a suitable document.

The health certificate must certify;

  1. The cat is identifiable by a microchip.

  2. The cat was continuously resident in New Zealand for 90 days immediately prior to export, or since direct importation from Australia or since birth.

  3. The cat was not in quarantine or under quarantine restrictions in the 60 days immediately prior to export.

  4. New Zealand is free from rabies.

  5. The cat was examined within 5 days prior to export and found to be fit to travel.

  6. The cat was treated for internal and external parasites within 5 days prior to export.

  7. The cat was not more than three (3) weeks pregnant, nor suckling young, at the time of export.
