Treatment: Equivalent heat treatments

Effective 3 May 2019 to 3 August 2019

The following heat treatments are considered equivalent to a core temperature of 70 °C for 8.2 minutes. The heat treatment must be applied as a minimum core temperature and minimum time held at that core temperature in a commercial heating process:

  1. 71 °C for not less than 6.6 minutes

  2. 72 °C for not less than 5.2 minutes

  3. 73 °C for not less than 4.2 minutes

  4. 74 °C for not less than 3.3 minutes

  5. 75 °C for not less than 2.6 minutes

  6. 76 °C for not less than 2.1 minutes

  7. 77 °C for not less than 1.7 minutes

  8. 78 °C for not less than 1.3 minutes

  9. 79 °C for not less than 1.1 minutes

  10. 80 °C for not less than 1 minute

Any treatment at a time of less than 0.3 minutes (18 seconds) will not be accepted.

Heat treatments under 70 °C will not be accepted as a sole biosecurity risk management measure for composite egg products. All other heat treatments will be referred to our policy division for further assessment.
