Risk Background

Biosecurity risks for moccasins

Effective 14 July 2015 to 20 November 2018

Moccasins are often imported from New Zealand because shearers use the sheep skin footwear while shearing. The moccasins accumulate sheep oil, dirt, seeds, faeces and diseases and are hence a high biosecurity risk.

Moccasins can also be made of other skins such as deer which the American Indians may use as footwear.
