Restricted use of fungicides during post entry quarantine
Effective 14 July 2015 to 5 August 2016Due to risk of fungicide application masking disease symptoms, the import conditions stating that fungicides are not to be applied without Department permission should be maintained. Suppersession of visual pathogen symptoms/sporulation through fungicide use defeats the purpose of growing on plants in post entry quarantine (PEQ) to check for disease. Consequently fungicide use on quarantine material undergoing PEQ is prohibited without prior approval from the Department. Approval is granted in consultation with a biosecurity plant pathologist and Plant Import Operations.
The following table lists common fungicides in use in Australia and will be updated as more information becomes available.
