General Rationale
Unknown plant parts
Effective 14 July 2015 to 22 October 2016This case applies to personal consignments of dried plant parts (including seeds, fruits, herbs, bark and roots) and articles made from dried plant parts. It is not intended for commercial consignments or for other end uses such as food, animal feed, fertilisers or propagation.
To assess the risk posed by the product the biosecurity officer must gather information. If the goods are unidentified then this lack of identification may be used to help form an opinion about the level of biosecurity risk posed by the goods.
Goods ordered into quarantine must be processed in a way that reduces their biosecurity risk to an acceptably low level. This may include appropriate treatments, exportation or destruction.
