Who does this change notice affect:
Importers of soil, Assessment Services Group and Inspections Group.
The legislation for soil has been updated and, as a result, import permits are no longer required for the following:
Soil samples for chemical, physical or destructive analysis
Soil samples for the isolation and/or culturing of microorganisms, excluding infectious agents
Soil samples that will be subject to heat treatment onshore
Although an import permit is not required, import conditions still apply. Please see the relevant BICON cases for specific import conditions.
