Addition of mushroom synonym Hypsizygus marmoreus
Effective from 22 January 2025Hypsizygus marmoreus has been added to the ‘Mushrooms for human consumption’ and ‘Mushrooms for propagation’ BICON cases, as the department has assessed that this species is a synonym of Hypsizygus tessulatus which falls under these BICON cases.
As a result, this species may be permitted entry into Australian territory subject to the import conditions for Hypsizygus tessulatus under the ‘Mushrooms for human consumption’ and ‘Mushrooms for propagation’ BICON cases.
No other changes have been made to import conditions for ‘Mushrooms for human consumption’ and ‘Mushrooms for propagation’.

Importers of fresh mushrooms for human consumption and mushrooms for propagation, customs brokers and departmental staff.
