Information notice added for cosmetics for human use

Effective from 10 October 2024

The department has added an information notice to the BICON case 'Cosmetics and soaps' for cosmetics for human use.

There have not been any changes to the import conditions.

  • An information notice has been added advising that certain cosmetics are considered to be therapeutic goods and importers must meet the relevant regulatory requirements of the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA).
  • The information notice has been added to the pathway 'Cosmetics for non-personal use for human use only - Less than 20% animal derived material by mass and retail packaged'.
  • The biosecurity import conditions must be met, regardless of TGA regulations.
