Removal of offshore treatment for Dormant Zantedeschia tubers not produced under an approved system

Effective from 15 August 2024

The department has reviewed the import conditions for Zantedeschia spp. dormant tubers from an unapproved source, including the efficacy of offshore treatments for consignments. Based on our review of imported consignments, no consignments of Zantedeschia spp. dormant tubers from unapproved sources have been imported onto Australian territory subject to offshore treatment.

For this reason, the department is removing the option of offshore treatment for Zantedeschia spp. dormant tubers from an unapproved source. Importers will still be able to source dormant tubers from unapproved sources subject to mandatory treatment on-arrival.

This will align the Zantedeschia spp. dormant tubers from an unapproved source with other nursery stock pathways from an unapproved source.

Who does this notice affect:
This notice is for departmental staff, nursery stock importers (and their customs brokers) and industry groups who may be interested in importing dormant Zantedeschia spp. tubers from unapproved sources.
