Importer declaration now permitted for Test kits testing for human conditions and listed on the ARTG

Effective from 21 June 2024

The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry has updated the import conditions for Test kits testing for human conditions and listed on the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods (ARTG). Importers may now provide evidence that imported test kits are included on the ARTG on an Importer declaration.

How will my permit be affected:
The department will not be varying active import permits. If you currently hold a permit for Test kits testing for human conditions on the ARTG and would like to use the updated conditions, please submit a new permit application or an application to vary your current permit.

Who does this alert affect:
Importers of test kits, brokers and biosecurity officers.
