Changes to the BICON case for cooked items

Effective from 15 June 2024

The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry has made a change to the BICON case Cooked items (biscuits, breads, pastries, cakes), mooncakes, egg waffles and uncooked cheesecakes. These changes include:

  • Additional advice on which import scenario to consider has been added to the landing page for the ‘not for personal use’ pathway.
  • A definition of 'cooked biscuits, cooked breads, cooked pastries and cooked cakes' in the Appendices has been amended to help clarify what is meant by "shelf stable goods". A prompt to consider this definition has been added in the conditions in the relevant import scenarios.

Importers of cooked items (biscuits, breads, pastries, cakes), mooncakes, egg waffles and uncooked cheesecakes, Biosecurity Imports Support Team, Pathway Operations Cargo - Assessment and Inspections.
