Updates to the BICON pathway for live mice and their reproductive material for laboratory use

Effective from 29 May 2024

The department has made minor changes to the BICON permit cases for live rats and mice and their reproductive material for laboratory use. Changes have been made to clarify the definition of "bred".

  • Live laboratory rats and mice subjected to compliant pre-export hantavirus test
  • Live laboratory rats and mice not subjected to compliant pre-export hantavirus test
  • Mice embryos for reproductive laboratory use
  • Rat embryos, semen and ova and mouse semen and ova

Import conditions regarding certification, preparation, transport, containment and release have not changed.
