Addition of Nepenthes beccariana and Rubus strigosus to various BICON cases

Effective from 19 January 2024

Nepenthes beccariana and Rubus strigosus have been added to the ‘Permitted seed for sowing’, ‘Raw seed for human consumption’ and ‘Birdseed’ BICON cases. The department has assessed that these species are synonyms of Nepenthes mirabilis and Rubus idaeus which are permitted species under these BICON cases.

As a result, Nepenthes beccariana and Rubus strigosus may be permitted entry into Australian territory subject to the import conditions under the ‘Permitted seed for sowing’, ‘Raw seed for human consumption’ and ‘Birdseed’ BICON cases.

No other changes have been made to the import conditions of these BICON cases.
