Addition of Chambeyronia magnifica to various BICON cases

Effective from 13 April 2024

Chambeyronia magnifica has been added to the ‘Arecaceae (palms) for use as nursery stock’, ‘Palm seed for sowing’, ‘Raw seed for human consumption’ and ‘Birdseed’ BICON cases as the department has assessed that this species is a synonym of Kentiopsis magnifica which falls under these BICON cases.

As a result, this species may be permitted entry into Australian territory subject to the import conditions under the ‘Arecaceae (palms) for use as nursery stock’, ‘Palm seed for sowing’, ‘Raw seed for human consumption’ and ‘Birdseed’ BICON cases.

Import permits:
Current import permits will not be updated to reflect this change, any permit holders intending to import these species will have to apply for a variation to include any additional species.
