Changes to the import conditions for live fish for laboratory use

Effective from 23 February 2024

The department has made minor changes to the BICON commodity case for live fish for laboratory use. Changes have been made to clarify the existing conditions for the import of reproductive material from live fish species for laboratory use.

The conditions have been updated to clarify that sperm is a permitted type of reproductive material from the specified live fish species.

Import conditions regarding certification, preparation, transport, containment and release have not changed.

Importers are encouraged to review the import conditions and apply for a permit if conditions can be met.
