Removal of testing requirements for Taro bacilliform CH virus for imported Colocasia spp.

Effective from 5 April 2024

Effective immediately, testing for Taro bacilliform CH virus will no longer be carried out on imported Colocasia nursery stock during the post-entry quarantine period.

This change is being implemented as the department has determined that Taro bacilliform CH virus is present in Australia and not under official control, and no longer a quarantine pest for Australia. Consequently, phytosanitary measures for Taro bacilliform CH virus are no longer required.

Import permits:
Import permit conditions will be varied by the department, at no charge to importers.

Who does this notice affect:
Importers of Colocasia spp. for use as nursery stock, brokers and departmental staff.
