Updated import pathways for fish

Effective from 10 October 2023

The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry has updated the BICON case ‘Finfish (excluding Salmonid) for human consumption’.

The new BICON case is called ‘Fish including fish caviar, fish roe, fish viscera and fish maw (excluding salmonid fish)’.

This updated BICON case consolidates all import conditions for fish and fish products into a single BICON case.

Navigation within this BICON case has also been updated. The lengthy question and answer driven pathways have been removed. A simple picklist is now provided on the first page. Answer help is provided to guide your selection and is located to the right of each item on the pick list.

All import conditions remain the same.

Who does this notice affect:
Importers of fish and fish products. Pathway Operations Cargo – Assessment and Inspection.
