Development of conditions for eviscerated thermally treated Ayu (Plecoglossus altivelis) from Japan

Effective from 24 January 2024

The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (department) has developed import permit conditions for eviscerated thermally treated Ayu (Plecoglossus altivelis) from Japan. The commodity case “Salmonid fish for human consumption” has been updated to reflect the newly developed Ayu conditions.
The new conditions require the Ayu (Plecoglossus altivelis) from Japan, to be eviscerated and treated at a minimum core temperature of 66°C for a minimum period of 40 minutes.

Who does this notice affect:
Importers of eviscerated thermally treated Ayu from Japan, Biosecurity Imports Support Team, Pathway Operations Cargo - Assessment and Inspections.
