Changes to the import conditions for table eggs from New Zealand

Effective from 14 March 2024

The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry has reinstated import conditions for table eggs from New Zealand, as New Zealand has regained freedom from infectious bursal disease.

Import conditions are now available for table eggs derived from domestic chickens, that are sourced from, manufactured in, and exported from Australia and/or New Zealand.

Importers of table eggs from New Zealand can apply for a standard permit using the BICON commodity case ‘Egg and egg products’.

The import conditions for egg and egg products (which do not contain egg shell) from New Zealand, have not changed.

Who does this notice affect:
Importers of table eggs from New Zealand, Biosecurity Imports Support Team and Pathway Operations Cargo - Assessment and Inspections.
