Addition of Plinia cauliflora to various BICON cases

Effective from 7 March 2024

Plinia cauliflora has been added to the ‘Guava rust hosts for use as nursery stock’ and ‘Myrtaceae seed for sowing’ BICON cases, as the department has assessed that this species is a synonym of Myrciaria cauliflora which falls under these BICON cases.

As a result, this species may be permitted entry into Australian territory subject to the import conditions under the ‘Guava rust hosts for use as nursery stock’ and ‘Myrtaceae seed for sowing’ BICON cases.

No other changes have been made to import conditions for ‘Guava rust hosts for use as nursery stock’ and ‘Myrtaceae seed for sowing’.

Current import permits will not be updated to reflect this change, any permit holders intending to import these species will have to apply for a variation to include any additional species.
