Clarification of plant form requirements for Sudden Oak Death hosts from a host country

Effective from 31 October 2023

The department has recently undertaken a review of import conditions to ensure that conditions applied are consistent with the risk. Through this process we have strengthen the wording of import conditions to ensure that all cuttings and budwood from a host country are imported as dormant material.

The requirement for cuttings and budwood to be dormant is based on existing policy for hosts of Phytophthora ramorum and other aerially dispersed species, as outlined under the department’s 2015 review of policy for the importation of Phytophthora ramorum host propagative material into Australia.
