Flexibility for freezing declaration document requirements

Effective from 5 December 2023

The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (department) has made changes to the BICON case ‘Seafood (excluding finfish) for human consumption’ to provide flexibility for freezing declaration document requirements for the following goods:

  • Frozen crustaceans (excluding prawns and freshwater crayfish), and
  • Frozen molluscs (excluding oysters)

What’s changed:
The freezing declaration does not have to include a description of the goods or their quantity/volume, if the declaration refers to the shipping container the goods are in.

Who does this notice affect:
Importers of crustaceans (excluding prawns and freshwater crayfish) and frozen molluscs (excluding oysters), Pathway Operations Cargo – Assessment and Inspections, Biosecurity Imports Support Team (BIST).
