Changes to the import conditons for Pig meat

Effective from 31 August 2023

The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry has changed the import conditions for uncooked pig meat sourced from Canada or Denmark and cooked in and exported from New Zealand.

  • The condition for a Health certificate from Canada or Denmark to be presented on arrival of the goods into Australia has been removed.
  • The Health certificate from Canada or Denmark will still be required to be presented for entry of the uncooked pig meat into New Zealand.
  • The Health certificate statements from Canada and Denmark have been moved to an Appendix in the permit and the New Zealand Ministry of Primary Industries will attest to receiving the relevant Health certificate from the source country.

Who does this notice affect:
Importers of uncooked pig meat from Canada or Denmark that is cooked in and exported from New Zealand, Biosecurity Imports Support Team, Pathway Operations Cargo - Assessment and Inspections. Pig meat team.
