Amendments to the import conditons for refrigerated (chilled) non-salmonid finfish

Effective from 22 December 2023

This amendment only applies to the following imports of fish:

  • Eviscerated, headless ‘pan-size’ fish, each weighing no more than 450 grams.
  • Fish that is headless and eviscerated which has been salted, dried or smoked of any weight.
  • Fish which have been de-headed, de-gilled and eviscerated only.

Imports of the above refrigerated fish must provide evidence on a bill of lading that the goods are transported in a container set at 4°C or below.

If evidence is unable to be provided or is insufficient, the goods will be subject to mandatory inspection upon arrival to ensure freedom from biosecurity risk material.
