Changes to Compliance-Based Intervention Scheme (CBIS) for fresh avocado for human consumption

Effective from 27 July 2023

The department is establishing a Supplier based CBIS trial on the New Zealand avocado pathway. The trial will test different system functionality on CBIS pathways and provide more flexible options for managing goods on CBIS. The change will mean that the risk-based compliance rate will count by ‘Supplier’, rather than by ‘Importer’, for the 2023 season.

Importers and brokers will be required to use a listed supplier code when lodging consignments of avocado from New Zealand in the Integrated Cargo System (ICS).

Who does this notice affect:
Importers of fresh avocado from New Zealand and associated brokers.
