Addition of plant scientific name synonyms to the Cacti for use a nursery stock case

Effective from 7 October 2023

The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry has completed an assessment of the plant scientific names listed below and determined that these species are synonyms of currently permitted species.

As a result, the following scientific names have been added to the Cacti for use as nursery stock BICON case, and may be permitted entry into Australian territory subject to the import conditions of the relevant case below.

Cacti for use as nursery stock:
Austrocephalocereus albicephalus
Austrocephalocereus dolichospermaticus
Austrocephalocereus estevesii
Austrocephalocereus purpureus
Thrixanthocereus senilis

Import permits:
Current import permits will not be updated to reflect this change, any permit holders intending to import this species will have to apply for a variation to include this additional species.

Who does this notice affect:
Importers (and their customs brokers) of these species for an end use of nursery stock and departmental staff.
