Additional declaration added to New Zealand avocado phytosanitary requirements
Effective from 1 July 2023The department has added an additional declaration for imports of fresh avocados for human consumption from New Zealand in response to the biosecurity concerns relating to leafroller.
Phytosanitary certificates must now include the additional declaration:
“The avocado in this consignment has been subjected to an approved packinghouse practice (water blasting) effective against leafrollers of biosecurity concern for Australia”
Who does this notice affect:
Importers of fresh avocados for human consumption, brokers, Pathway Operations Cargo – Inspections and Assessments, and biosecurity staff.
