Changes

The department has updated the acceptable packaging methods for water chestnuts for human consumption.

Previously, the conditions for this pathway only considered goods that are canned to be acceptably packaged to mitigate associated biosecurity risks. However, the department now also considers goods that are aseptically packaged or retorted to be acceptably packaged to mitigate biosecurity risk.

Who does this notice affect:
Importers of water chestnuts for human consumption from all countries, brokers, Pathway Operations Cargo – Assessment and Inspections and departmental staff.
