Changes to inspection onshore outcomes for celery and fennel seed for human consumption

Effective from 1 August 2023

The department has updated onshore outcomes in the celery and fennel seed for human consumption BICON cases, for multiple pathways whereby all requirements have been met.

For onshore outcomes whereby ISTA testing is nominated by the importer for seeds not purity tested offshore and are less than 8mm in size, all onshore outcomes have been changed to ensure a seeds-qualified biosecurity officer conducts the inspection for these pathways.

No other changes have been made to the import conditions for celery or fennel seed for human consumption.

Who does this notice affect:
Importers of celery or fennel seed for human consumption from all countries and their brokers, Pathway Operations Cargo – Assessment and/or Inspections, departmental staff.
