Updates to species listings in the 'Mushrooms for human consumption' case

Effective from 23 May 2023

The following updates have been made in the ‘Mushrooms for human consumption’ BICON case.

On the list of restricted medicinal mushrooms:

  • Pachyma cocos and Wolfiporia cocos have been added as synonyms of Wolfiporia extensa.

On the list of permitted dried or frozen mushrooms for human consumption:

  • Annulohypoxylon stygium (synonym: Hypoxylon stygium) has been reinstated.
  • Dictyophora duplicata has been added as a synonym for Phallus indusiatus.

As a result, Annulohypoxylon stygium (synonym: Hypoxylon stygium), Dictyophora duplicata, Pachyma cocos and Wolfiporia cocos may be permitted entry into Australian territory subject to the import conditions under the ‘Mushrooms for human consumption’ BICON case.

These changes do not include any updates to the import conditions for fresh mushrooms.

Who does this notice affect:
Importers and brokers of dried, frozen and medicinal mushrooms for human consumption and department staff.
