Changes to import conditions for Mushrooms for human consumption

Effective from 1 July 2023

Following a review, dried or processed mushrooms that are restricted medicinal species, are not highly processed (including powdered mushrooms) and will be treated on arrival into Australian territory are exempt from khapra beetle phytosanitary measures, if packaged in individual units less than or equal to 25kg.

All imports of dried, processed, or frozen mushrooms for human consumption imported through a low-value pathway will now have Self-Assessed Clearance (SAC) onshore outcomes updated for use as equivalent high-value onshore outcomes.

Who does this affect:
Importers, freight forwarders, biosecurity officers and brokers that deal with mushrooms for human consumption.
